Spaghetti Bolognaise

This is a variation of a recipe my mother used to make.

Ingredients

  • 300 g minced beef
  • 1 onion chopped
  • ½ tsp ground ginger
  • ½ tsp ground coriander
  • pinch chilli powder
  • 2 medium tomatoes chopped
  • ½ tin chopped tomatoes
  • 2 tsp tomato paste
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Marmite (optional)
  • 1 tsp dried origanum
  • Cooked spaghetti

Method

Lightly fry onions and spices in oil.

Move the onions to one side and add the mince.

Brown the mince.

Mix the onions and mince.

Add the tomatoes and tomato paste - mix lightly.

Simmer until tomatoes start breaking down - add water if sauce gets too dry.

Add Worcestershire sauce and Marmite and mix well.

Simmer for 5 to 10 minutes - add water if necessary.

Sprinkle origanum on top of sauce.

Drain the spaghetti and add it to the sauce. Mix lightly.

When serving, add a sprinkling of grated cheddar cheese.
